Chris decided last Wednesday that he wanted to go to Florida.  So we booked tickets and left on Saturday! 

Cash got new headphones for the plane and loved them (until it was actually time to use them on the flight).

Our little dude was so excited to fly in an airplane!  (Chris looks like he was just excited about his Cheetos)

Since Cash loves making forts…why not just make one on the plane??  He packed and wheeled around his own carry on- so cute!

I must have talked about the pool too much because the first thing Cash wanted to do was go swimming- we landed in FL at 10pm and that’s all he wanted to do but we convinced him to wait until morning!  Good thing we brought Chris, because the water was COLD!  No thanks.

We were staying just 45 minutes from the MN Twins’ Spring Training stadium so we were lucky enough to take in a game.  So much fun!  The weather was perfect and it was a good way to see how many innings Cash would last before taking him to Target Field! 

The highlight of the game for Cash was spotting TC the mascot right away.  We spent most of the game trying to figure out where he was.  Finally, Cash’s dream came true and he got to meet his “friend” and get “two five fives and knuckles!”. 

Before leaving the stadium, Cash had to try out his pitching arm.  Apparently, he can throw 31 miles an hour.  I think there may have been a glitch in the radar.

And practiced being a monkey…

The only bad thing about our trip were these little lizards.  Ew.  They were fast and surprised us all the time.  Cash really hated them!

And then it was time to come back to real life….

Amazing how nervous I’m getting! 

Things that I’m most nervous about right now include:

*the roommate situation. I’ve never had to share a hospital room before, and I’m worried that my roommate will be in there for something involving smelly poop or something. I was going to bring headphones to listen to Pandora or something, but my right ear is going to be out of commission for a while.

*the hair/shower situation. For some reason, the thought never crossed my mind that I wouldn’t be able to shower immediately after surgery. Reports vary on how long I have to wait. Hopefully I can wash my hair before my mom goes home. I’m really regretting chopping it off right now, it’s not long enough for a ponytail.

*the chewing situation. I like to eat. I won’t be able to chew for a while. I like soup, but not THAT much. What if I waste away? OK, I probably won’t waste away….

Mixed in there are fears about complications, pathology and pain.

On the positive side, I don’t have to cook, clean or get up with the kids for a week or so!

Wish me luck, this is going to be a busy week of cleaning, packing, grocery shopping, girl’s night out while I can still chew, and fun spring break activities!

We are slowly working our way through breakfast recipes! So far, we’ve only tried 3, and unfortunately we’ll probably have to take a break soon until I recover from surgery.
We tried a new recipe this morning! Stacy’s mini quiches stole the crown from former favorite, Jaimee’s banana roll ups. Ross thinks he prefers them as an after school snack.

We celebrated early Easter with Jeff’s family this weekend. The 2 littles and I headed up north on Thursday and spent a few days with my parents. Jeff and Ross headed up on Friday, and we all met up at his parent’s house on Saturday.

Rex spent most of the weekend napping with Grandpa.He perked up at supper time.The early Easter bunny brought Ruby a Dora hair set. She was rocking some piggy tails.

After supper (to which I contributed a $13 dessert that looked like poop thanks to outrageously priced Oreos in Karlstad) we headed out to see the cows.

Apparently “Say cheese” translates to “act weird” in Ross and Ruby language.Ruby made a new friend.It’s weird that she is afraid of cats, but a calf is ok?

I attempted to photograph the miracle of birth, but this cow was not cooperating.These guys found it fascinating.

Ruby got cold and decided she needed to sit in the tractor.Which made these guys think it was time for lunch.

Then it was time to scrape the poo off our boots and head home.

The littles and I made an amazing 320 mile car trip yesterday, with only 1 stop!  Thank goodness for diapers and Diego! We’re hanging out with my parents today and heading to the in-law’s for early Easter tomorrow.  Then, back home on Sunday- that’s a lot of seat time!

Rex blessed me with a 4 hour solid block of sleep last night.  Amazing!  Unfortunately, we are battling thrush for about the 990000th time in 6 months.

I just learned that I won’t be able to wash my hair for at least 3 days after my surgery, and I’m grossed out just thinking about it already.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a fun weekend! We are heading to a fish fry tonight, then I have to make dessert for early Easter- I traded duties with my favorite niece

We took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday with a quick trip to the park.  Ruby asks every day if we can go to Ross’s school, so that’s where we headed.  Rex hung out in the Beco while Ross, Ruby and Cash played and played.

Ross spun so fast on the tire swing that he lost a shoe…..

Then it was time for the monkey bars for our little monkeys.

Then they played tag.  

By this time, the sky was getting dark, the wind had picked up, and both mommies were tired.
One last trip down the slide for Ruby, after Cash assured her that he would catch her at the bottom. 

And then it was time to go home for supper.

Poor Rex.

He’s the only one of my kids who can’t run away from me.

So, I make him do things like this….

But look! I had help, I didn’t just lay him in the driveway and run away.

Now to get the blue chalk out of his hair…..

Happy Friday.  I’m kinda in a funk.  I just don’t feel the best (think I caught Sister’s cold) and I’m tired. Rex has actually been sleeping better, but I lie awake at night and worry about my surgery before falling asleep. When I finally fall asleep, Jeff wakes me up with his snoring. Whine.

Tomorrow, I have a 4 hour beginning photography class. I’m really looking forward to learning how to use my camera. I’m slightly OCD about my preparations for it, including ordering an extra battery and memory card.  What if?
