Welcome back Friday! It’s more like a Monday for me, hubby and Ross are in North Dakota for the weekend, leaving me home with the littles. Seems like it could be a long weekend! Rex and I are heading out for his 4 month pictures, then we are planning a pit stop at Trader Joe’s to stock up on hibernation food.

Guess what? It’s time for Five Question Friday!
1. Do you swim in the winter?
Nope. Unless I am somewhere warm and exotic. I really hate hauling everything to a pool, then having to haul all the wet stuff and kids out to the sub-zero car. We have a brand spanking new gym membership, so I should probably revise my thinking and actually use the pool a little bit.
I swam everyday for a week in Jamaica…but other than that I usually don’t swim in the winter. I wish I did. I love water aerobic classes. Too bad I have a huge case of the lazies.
2. Do you love or hate winter?
Pretty much hate it. Even when the weather is nice, there is still snow and ice on the ground. I did the splits trying to put gas in my car last night. I am not built to do the splits. I also don’t really enjoy outdoor activities in the winter, but I’m trying to change that. Last weekend we went snow tubing…in the snow. I just learned last night that the local nature reserve rents snow shoes or cross country skis on the weekends, so that might be our next activity.
I hate winter. I really hate driving on any sort of road that is not black and dry. I don’t like being cold. I don’t like putting layers of clothes on me or my child. I don’t like winter illnesses. I don’t like that it’s dark out more often than it’s light. I just don’t really like anything about it. I do wish that I skied, or snow shoe-d or something like that but like I said, I hate being cold.
3. Do you put makeup/actual clothes on when you know you’re going to be home all day with just family?
Nope. Let me clarify. I pretty much never put on makeup. Unless it’s a fancy occasion or something. But if I’m home with the kids, I’m in yoga pants and a milk stained t-shirt. I refuse to wear sweats outside of my house though.
I pretty much wear mascara everyday…my eyelashes are so blond that I scare myself looking at them with no mascara. Other than that, I take my sweet time getting out of my pjs most days. This week, the little dude has been sick so I haven’t changed clothes until bedtime every day this week. I went to a seminar at church that suggested getting up and getting fully ready every day to better serve your husband. I’m sure my husband would appreciate that…but it just seems like such a waste of time.
4. How old were you when you had your first alcoholic beverage?
Huh, that’s hard to say. My best friends’ mom let us split a peach wine cooler when we were 15/16. We had to drink it out of Tupperware sippy cups because they had new carpet, and then my friend felt too intoxicated to drive me home. I remember going to Canada with my hubby when I was 18 and legal to drink there, and ordering my first drink- how exciting!
Um, well, like 14 or 15. Flat out drunk and puking. (Sorry, Mom…I’m sure you’re proud). Although I feel like I once had a wine cooler at our house when I was really young that caused me to fall down the stairs? That may just be my imagination though.
I’m sure this isn’t a surprise to mom, as she is well aware that you “borrowed” the car when you were 15 to go buy booze and hit a skunk, and attempted to blame it on me. Just a thought.
5. How many ill calls in a 12 month period do you think are acceptable?
Huh. Now that I’m unemployed, I guess I don’t get sick days. In my previous life, I never called in sick. Ever. We were too small of a department to fill sick calls easily. I even worked through mono. In 7 years, I missed 4 shifts due to being on bedrest with Ruby, otherwise I could count on one hand how many days I called in. When I worked in a larger department, it wasn’t that big of a deal. So, maybe 6? That would be 1 day every other month. Still a lot. Maybe I should call in sick today?
I have no idea.
Have a great weekend! Hopefully I will too, if I find a babysitter! (You’re welcome for lending you my Manny, Sis).
I can’t wait for wine night with my favorite Divas tonight and a fabulous dinner out of my house tomorrow! -lindsay**
